We now have a fantastic opportunity for a capable and innovative Tax Accountant to join our boutique firm in Alice Springs, NT on a full-time basis.
Working closely with the Director, and a small team of 6-7 professionals (3 accountants and approximately 4 bookkeepers, plus administration staff), you will be providing a range of accounting services over 3 key areas - taxation, auditing, and not-for-profit/funded organisation accounting.
Your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Working with clients to prepare tax returns, providing support for relevant taxation affairs and queries;
- Completing compliance work for a variety of business clients, including financial statements and income tax returns;
- Assisting the director with undertaking audits;
- Preparing General Purpose Financial Reports/Special Purpose Financial Reports for funded clients;
- Assisting with audits of not-for-profit organisations, liaising with auditors to achieve timely audit reports;
- Preparing annual budgets, Business Activity Statements, monthly/quarterly management accounts and reports; and
- Supporting other ClarityNT staff, providing mentoring, training or advice as required.
What we need from you
The successful candidate will have significant experience in general accounting, with CA or CPA qualifications highly regarded but not essential. You must have a strong understanding of taxation accounting, and the ability to meet one-on-one with clients and provide accurate, well-informed advice in a confident manner.
It's crucial that you are proficient in Xero, with any experience in other accounting software or technologies, or an interest in learning these, highly regarded.
An honest, personable communicator, you'll have no trouble building relationships with a range of clients, listening to and understanding their needs or situations, and offering straight-forward, confidential support or advice.
With strong problem solving skills and a commitment to innovation, you'll be confident making decisions and working autonomously, and be able to build on your knowledge and experience to identify any opportunities to further improve the service we provide.
Finally, you'll be a genuine team player, willing to jump in and help out in other areas when needed, and contributing to the friendly and positive team culture that has played a key part in our success.
